=== Zerfall der Demokratie weltweit ===
Sieg der liberalen Demokratie (End of History) vs. Nouveau Moyen Age

Teresa Caldeira (2001) City of Walls: Crime, Segregation, and Citizenship in São Paulo: Crime, Segregation and Citizenship in Sao Paulo. University of California Press. Teresa Caldeira's pioneering study of fear, crime, and segregation in São Paulo poses essential questions about citizenship and urban change in contemporary democratic societies. Focusing on São Paulo, and using comparative data on Los Angeles, she identifies new patterns of segregation developing in these cities.

Homizide in Sao Paulo:  Häufigkeit, Entwicklung, Ursachen.
Anschließend an us-amerikanische Forschung (Randolph Roth, 2009, American Homicide) Hypothese eines Zusammenhangs mit (1) political instability; (2) a loss of government legitimacy; (3) a loss of fellow-feeling among members of society caused by racial, religious, or political antagonism; and (4) a loss of faith in the social hierarchy.

'''Entorpecentes: o mais engraçado é que ...'''

Some of you might wonder why in the world I use the word "funny" in the title of this speech. I can assure you, it is not because I believe that drugs are fun and only fun. I have some sympathy for Keith Richards' statement when he was asked about drug problems during his career as the #2 of the Rolling Stones. ("I've never had drug problems. I've had problems with the police.") But there are people who die from drugs and there are people who lose one of their loved ones to drugs. So there is no reason to proclaim that basically, drugs are fun and only fun. For many people, the question is not what is the funniest thing about drugs, but if there is anything funny about them at all.
