In this contribution, abolitionism is referred to as only the immediatist kind of opposition to a repressive institution. The reason for this terminological choice is simple. It rests upon the moral (ethical) character of the argument against a repressive institution. If an institution is opposed because of its being unjust, then it makes no sense to call for its gradual elimination. An unjust practice - in theory - has no right to be prolonged. At least in theory, the necessity to abolish it right away and completely, is a necessary corollary of its being unjust. "There is no place for theoretical compromises that do not compromise the integrity of the theory itself. (...)
