Jonathan Simon

Jonathan Simon (* 1959) ist ein amerikanischer Rechtswissenschaftler, Soziologe und Kriminologe. Seine Theorie des „Governing Through Crime“ („Herrschen durch das Verbrechen“) wird in der internationalen Kriminalsoziologie ausführlich rezipiert.

Simon prägte die Begriffe "new penology" und "governing through crime" (mit-). Nach Stationen an der University of Michigan und der Miami University Law School ist er seit 2003 in Berkeley, Ca., tätig, wo er u.a. auch die Stellung eines Ko-Direktors des Berkeley Center for Criminal Justice inne hat.
