Michael R. Gottfredson (* 1951) ist ein US-amerikanischer Soziologe und Kriminologe. Gottfredson ist derzeit als Vize-Kanzler und Professor für Kriminologie und Strafrechtssoziologie an der University of California in Irvine tätig und wurde vor allem durch seine Arbeiten zur Kontrolltheorie, im Speziellen der Allgemeinen Kriminalitätstheorie (General Theory of Crime) (zusammen mit Travis B. Hirschi) bekannt.
